Can someone help me with this equation please? The directions are:

Write an equation for the line in point/slope form and slope/intercept form that has the given condition.
And the problem is:
x-intercept = 6 and y-intercept = -8
I'm confused though I thought you needed the at least two points to write an equation in point/slope form and slope/intercept form. How do I do it with the x and y intercept?

well, aren't the intercepts points ?

e.g. x-intercept = 6 ----> you have a point (6,0)
y-intercept = -8 ---> your second point is (0,-8)

can you handle it now?

in february you have a balance of $80 in your bank account. each month yu deposit $20. let january = 1, february =2, and so on. writhe an equation for this situation. use the equation to find the balance in december

To write the equation of a line in point/slope form or slope/intercept form, you typically need either two points on the line, or one point and the slope of the line. However, given the x-intercept and y-intercept, you can still determine the equation.

The x-intercept is the point where the line crosses the x-axis, which means the y-coordinate of this point is 0. In this case, the x-intercept is (6,0). Likewise, the y-intercept is the point where the line crosses the y-axis, meaning the x-coordinate of this point is 0. In this case, the y-intercept is (0,-8).

Now, let's determine the slope of the line using the x-intercept and y-intercept. The slope (m) is the change in y divided by the change in x between two points on the line. Since we have the y-intercept (0, -8) and the x-intercept (6, 0), we can calculate the slope as follows:

m = (change in y) / (change in x)
= (-8 - 0) / (0 - 6)
= -8 / -6
= 4/3

Now we can use the slope (m) and one of the intercept points to write the equation in point/slope form:

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

Using the y-intercept (0, -8) and the slope (4/3), we substitute the values into the equation:

y - (-8) = (4/3)(x - 0)
y + 8 = (4/3)x

To convert this equation to slope/intercept form (y = mx + b), where 'm' is the slope and 'b' is the y-intercept, we isolate 'y' on one side:

y + 8 = (4/3)x
y = (4/3)x - 8

So, the equation of the line in point/slope form is y + 8 = (4/3)(x - 0), and in slope/intercept form, it is y = (4/3)x - 8.
