a tub can drain 24 gallons of water in 5 mintues. what is this rate in cups per second?

Your turn now.

i ju8st know

24 gallons
5 min

can you help me with this one as well i need it in the chart format though

Why don't you type one of the examples that your teacher gave you in "chart format" so we can see what you need ?

To find the rate in cups per second, we need to convert gallons to cups and minutes to seconds. Here's how you can do it step by step:

1. Convert gallons to cups: Since there are 16 cups in one gallon, multiply the number of gallons (24) by 16.
24 gallons * 16 cups/gallon = 384 cups

2. Convert minutes to seconds: Multiply the number of minutes (5) by 60 to get the equivalent number of seconds.
5 minutes * 60 seconds/minute = 300 seconds

3. Calculate the rate in cups per second: Divide the number of cups (384) by the number of seconds (300).
384 cups / 300 seconds ≈ 1.28 cups/second

Therefore, the rate at which the tub drains water is approximately 1.28 cups per second.

How many cups in a gallon? How many cups in 24 gallons?

How many seconds in a minute? How many seconds in 5 minutes?

yes know i need that for every problem that way

Wow, no wonder you guys are confused.

How to complicate a simple question !
It does work, but ......

"old-fashioned way"

8 inches per 5 second
= 96 inches/min
= 5760 inches/hour -- and there are 5280x12 or 63360 inches per mile
= (5760/63360) miles/hr
= .0909.. miles/hr

ok sure for example in this problem:

a worm moved 8 inches in five seconds. how many miles per hour is this?

8 in 1 ft 1 mile 60 sec 60 min
5 sec 12 in 5280 feet 1 minute 1 hour

then u cross out in and in then sec with sec ft with ft min and min then u are left wth miles on top and hour on bottom
so then what u do is the top is 8*1*1*60*60
and the bottom is 5*12*5280*1*1

so u multiply both which is
28800 miles
316800 hours
then divide
0.09 miles per hour
