in addition to the long list you already have, don't forget:

Medicare tax (taken out of Social Security checks)
Ttobacco, gasoline and alcohol tax (federal and state), and the value-based tax/fee added to annual CA motor vehicle registration.

CA has a sales tax on prepared (restaurant or fast) food, junk food (soda pop and sweets), and on newspapers and magazines.

There is an amusement park, theater and event ticket tax.

The list goes on and on.

Ahhh, yes, Drwls reminds me. California is a state of umpteen taxes, that's for sure!

Be sure to add the "bed tax" that hotels have to charge, and in some areas that's at the state AND county (and maybe city) levels, too.

I do not know if these still exist under these names:

Truckers have to pay a load tax for commercial use of the roads. I think that's the little tag they have on their vehicles.
We used to have to itemize our business equipment and pay a tx on that every year. Its different than an inventory tax.

To find a comprehensive list of California state taxes, you can visit the official website of the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) or the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA). These websites provide detailed information about various taxes levied in the state.

Here are seven additional taxes that are applicable in California:

1) Personal Income Tax: This tax is imposed on individuals based on their income level.

2) Use Tax: It applies to the use, storage, or consumption of goods purchased from out-of-state retailers, where sales tax was not paid.

3) Estate Tax: This tax is imposed on the transfer of the estate of a deceased person.

4) Corporation Tax: It is a tax levied on corporations operating in California.

5) Employment Training Tax: This tax is deducted from employees' wages and is used to fund employment training programs in the state.

6) Alcohol Tax: California imposes various taxes on the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages.

7) Cigarette and Tobacco Tax: These taxes are levied on the sale and use of cigarettes and other tobacco products.

Remember to check the official websites mentioned above to get the most accurate and up-to-date information on California state taxes.
