lun is correct

Still correct, thanks!

lin is correct

whoops, i forgot to add the rest of the options for #1:

option #3 is, 18 or -18
and option #4 is, 23 or -23

thx

please help someone!??

The only one slightly difficult is #2

|y+4| < 1
then y+4 < 1 AND -y-4 < 1
y < -3 AND -y < 5
y< -3 AND y > -5
so -5 < x -3

in general, for inequalities, if you have
|some stuff| < k , then separate them with AND (the intersection)
|some stuff| > k, then separate them with OR (the union)
if k is negative, there would be no solution, since it would contradict the definition of |...|

your last one:
|a| - 3/4 = -5/8
|a| = 1/8
a = 1/8 or -1/8

your #1 and #3 are correct

thank you sooo much Reiny!:)

the second one was option 3 though. but don't worry, i mean that question was totally stupid.
thanks again!
