Does anyone have time to read over an article and help me critically analyze it.

Google "We could, for example, save lives by denying drivers' licenses to those over 65, but we do not" (without quotes) and click on the De-Demonizing Rum: What's wrong with 'underage' drinking? - legal ...

I have been struggling with this article and could use all the help I can get.

Thanks

(Ms. Sue, can you please post a link to this site.)

I have read up on different types of rhetoric, but have only been able to find one example of it in this article.

"It is a ludicrous and demeaning law..." (Stuttaford, 2004)would this be an example of rhetoric? If so, would it be a "hyperbole?"

Can anyone help me find other examples of rhetoric in this article.

Here are some phrases for you to look at. Also, look up the term "irony" in your book.

A typical Texan of 19-let's call her "Jenna"
Miller Time could now mean hard time
cops dedicated to fighting the scourge of teenage tippling
The crusade does not stop there
for those parents 2stupid2think, a helpful series of danger signs compiled by the Texas Safety Network.
indicator that your child is drinking may be the "smell of alcohol on [his] breath." Who knew?

There are many more.

Thanks

So would "...for those parents 2stupid2think..." be an example of irony. Thanks for pointing this one out when I read this over I did not notice the play on words. What about "indicator that your child is drinking may be the "smell of alcohol on [his] breath." Who knew" I understand this is sarcastic, but what type of rhetoric is this?

I am working on another article, and am having a hard time identifying bias. Can anyone help me with this?

Yes, we can help you. Please click "Post a New Question" and information about finding the article online.

The tricky part is the article I found is in my University library, and you need to login to get to that. I have the file in pdf but i can publish it to the web. Besides emailing it, is there any other way I can share it?

Any suggestions of how I can identify bias in general.

What is the title of the article? The author? What program do you use in your library to access this article? Let me know, and if I have access to the program, I'll find it and share it with others.

I found my article in the following library:

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center by GALE

The article title is: Marijuana Should Be Decriminalized

The article reference number is: EJ3010211224

Can you access this?
